  • Regionals and WVC

Regionals 18-1 During this year there has been some rough patches, but this weekend at regionals we learned and played as one. 14u Qualifier

Tuesday, January 9, 2018

After a good solid two months of training, we went into this tournament wanting to really focus on our FUNdamentals. Working together as a team and keeping composure under high pressure was very important during this tournament.

The morning started quiet and slow but tone was quickly set after taking the “W” the first game. Although, at times throughout the day, we seemed to forget some of the basics we worked hard to bring them back into focus and keep moving forward.

Overall, it was a really well spent day of playing volleyball, we took a lot away from it and are going to use this experience to move in a better direction.

Enjoy the time off HIKI-Lādies and see you back in the gym soon!!!

The 13-1s had an amazing start to the season by winning their first Qualifier without losing a set!

Their performance is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and training that each player put in the past two months.

The girls are playing with a sense of confidence, determination and infectious positive energy that allows a team that lacks in size, age and years of experience to successfully “punch way above their weight class”.

They are putting their competition on notice that they shouldn’t be overlooked.

This is just the start because if they continue to have the same work ethic, commitment and enthusiasm who knows how far this team will go!

2017-18 Season Underway

Wednesday, December 20, 2017

Amazing growth in all areas with more to build upon. Our 14’s put on a show these past two weekends, leading us to believe that they wholeheartedly are buying in to our system and culture. We were amazed at the sportsmanship, self-confidence, humility and our “Never give up attitude” when things didn’t go our way! We went into these last tournaments looking for aggressiveness, good attitudes, talking and with our main focus being on the fundamentals. We feel that our girls have improved strongly over the last couple of months and really brought that onto the court. We learned that playing volleyball is not just about the win but it is about playing the best game we can in whatever situation we are in.

We, as a coaching staff, are thankful and honored to coach these kids on the court and in our own special way make them appreciate the simple things Volleyball has to offer on and off the court.

Lastly, we want to wish our 14’s ohana a Mele Kalikimaka and a Hauoli Makahiki Hou, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Solid start from our u16s group with everyone having at least one & some having two friendships under their belts. After a month or so of our mixture of trainings, it seems this group is poised to have a special season. The level of commitment & dedication necessary to become a “special team” is being shared, taught & learned daily. Choices are individually being made that will determine their level of growth. Just two more weeks or so of training & preparation before the MHM-MLK tourney in Eugene…HIKI NO, Lezzzzgoooo!

First tournament under our belt. It’s been a long, tedious month and a half and it was nice to play against someone else. Good showing from the group, and nice and refreshing to see that the hard work has led to a solid start. It’s exciting to see the growth from the start of the year, but more importantly, the growth that is itching to come to the surface. Hard work and dedication in leads to success on and off the court. How much do you want to put in? Looking forward to the next month leading up to MLK weekend!

Outdoor Season

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

T.E.A.M. Hiki No is once again excited to offer an outdoor (sand&grass) training program to our region! Outdoor volleyball teaches ‘OWNERSHIP’ & players that take responsibility for effort, hardwork, & competing on a challenging surface will see noticeable improvements in their overall game! Our coaches will work with & teach the outdoor game of volleyball which differs from its fellow indoor game & very few can excel in both. Whether you have never played/trained in the sand before OR have some/lots of experience, we will help those that are up for the challenges & have a lil’ FUN in the SUN too! 😉

We will also continue to host the biggest & best Jrs sand tourneys in our region & unveil the new points/rankings system used to help seed the legendary Seaside Beach Tourney (Aug 10-13th)! Our beach tourneys have had Jrs from all over our CEVA region & this summer we are very excited to welcome 20+ Jrs from ERVA & 10+ Jrs from PSRVB already confirmed for 2 of our tourneys this summer! The sand game is growing fast & provides another opportunity & avenue for Jrs to play collegiately! Tourney registrations will open June 1st, spots are limited, & more details to come…stay tuned!

To join our outdoor program, pls email us (team@teamhikino.com) or contact Coach Kyle (503-318-0843) for more info…We will start on Tues May 30th! See u on da beach!!! 😉
